The Supreme Court on Friday directed the central government and all states to file a reply within three weeks explaining what steps they are taking to improve school safety, according to media reports.

A petition was filed by two female lawyers seeking the implementation of the existing guidelines for ensuring the safety of children in schools, to which the top court said that it had already issued a notice on a similar plea filed by the father of a child who was murdered at Ryan International School, Deccan Chronicle reported. Last week, the seven-year-old boy was found with his throat slit at the school’s campus in Gurgaon.
