Police are searching for the parent of a four-year-old girl, of African origin, who was found alone in Sau Mau Ping in Kowloon in the early hours on Monday.

A 53-year-old taxi driver surnamed Lee stopped his car outside Sau Yin House in Sau Mau Ping Estate and found the girl wandering around at 1am, Oriental Daily reported.

Lee got out of his taxi and asked the girl why she was alone on the street but she was unable to answer.

Concerned for the girl’s safety, Lee drove her to Kwun Tong Police Station and reported her situation to officers there.

The girl wanted to go to her mother’s place in Tsim Sha Tsui but she couldn’t tell officers the exact location, Sing Tao Daily reported.

She is about 1.1 meters tall, dark-skinned and has curly short black hair. The girl was wearing a grey dress and brown boots and carrying a pink bag when she was found.

Police posted a photo of the girl on Facebook, urging anyone with information about the girl to contact them on 3661-0512 or 3661-5013.
