Police raids described as a “sanitation drive” have revealed some of the convicted rapist “godman” Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s “dirty secrets,” according to media reports.

Search operations that began on Friday at the Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters near Haryana’s Sirsa town yielded hard disks, cash, pharmaceutical drugs, vehicles, laptops and homemade plastic coins, the Deccan Chronicle reported.

NDTV reported that the orange and blue plastic coins were used by followers at campus shops in place of official currency.

Hours before the raid began, the sect’s organ, Sach Kahoon, said human remains were buried on the site, the Hindustan Times reported, because the Dera chief encouraged followers to have their bodies disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.

District officials said the search operation was shedding light on the mysterious sect and its chief, Singh, who was recently found guilty by a special Central Bureau of Investigation court in Panchkula, Haryana, of raping two “sadhvis” (female followers) 14 years ago and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
