Fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s younger brother, Iqbal Ibrahim Kaskar, was arrested by Thane police late on Monday, according to media reports.

A Thane Anti-Extortion Cell team headed by former “encounter specialist’” Pradeep Sharma nabbed Kaskar at his south Mumbai residence, IANS reported.

On Dawood’s behalf, Kaskar allegedly used threats to extort huge sums of money from builders in Thane, Ulhasnagar and Dombivli.  One of the builders lodged an extortion complaint, the police said.

Times of India reported that the complainant approached Parambir Singh, the Thane police commissioner, who  directed Sharma to proceed with the investigation after examining the evidence.
