A 39-year-old man was arrested for attempted robbery after allegedly trying to grab a police officer’s gun in Sheung Wan on Hong Kong Island on Monday.

At 9pm, as two police constables were patrolling on Queen’s Road Central, a man approached them, Apple Daily reported.

While passing by the two policemen, he allegedly tried to pull a gun out of the holster of one of the constables. The constable immediately  subdued him, forcing him to the ground with the help of the other officer.

The man was arrested for attempted robbery and was detained pending further investigation, Sing Pao reported.

The suspect had reportedly been in jail at the beginning of this year and was unemployed after his release. He reportedly attempted suicide early this month.
