A 35-year-old man of Pakistani origin was arrested on Sunday for his alleged involvement in a rape and robbery in Sham Shui Po, Kowloon, on Friday.
The unemployed man was arrested on Tung Chau Street after police examined surveillance video from nearby buildings and from a car dash camera handed over by a motorist, Headline Daily reported.
The dash-camera footage allegedly showed the suspect’s face and the direction in which he fled.
The victim, a 28-year-old woman, had been approached at 3am on Friday at her home on Fuk Wa Street by a man who asked her for a cigarette. After she refused him, he allegedly followed her upstairs, dragged her on to the staircase and raped her.
The woman suffered injuries to her hands and her mobile phone worth HK$5,000 (US$640) was stolen, HK01.com reported.
