Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Tamil megastar Kamal Haasan talked over lunch in Chennai on Thursday for nearly an hour, after which they held a press conference jointly announcing that they were united in the fight against corruption.
“There has been a lot of speculation about why he came to meet me. The purpose is singular — he has a national profile of fighting against corruption. So no wonder we had a dialogue about this and we are united in this,” Haasan told reporters.
India Today reported that Kejriwal was accompanied by fellow Aam Aadmi Party leaders Ashutosh and Sanjay Singh. Without divulging much about the topics discussed during the meeting, Kejriwal said, “I have always been a great fan of Kamal Haasan, both as an individual and actor. We shared our ideas and will keep meeting. He should come forward and join politics.”
On September 15, the 62-year-old actor put an end to speculation about his entry into politics and had said he will be forming his own political party “out of compulsion and not choice.”
With a series of political dramas unfolding in Tamil Nadu politics, Hassan has been politically active on social media, targeting the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government in Tamil Nadu, The Indian Express reported.
