Chinese authorities have set a 2019 deadline for automakers to comply with new sales targets for green cars. The date to implement the new rules was pushed back a year after global automakers expressed concerns they wouldn’t be able to comply.

Reuters reports, citing a statement released Friday by Chinese authorities, the new regulations will require 10% of annual sales to be accounted for by new-energy vehicles. The quota will be increased to 12% by 2020.
