As many as nine people were killed on Thursday after the roof of a bus shelter collapsed near Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, ANI reported.
Several people were believed to be trapped under the debris after the incident in Somanur. Rescue operations are underway.
Meanwhile, DMK leader MK Stalin criticized the state government, using the tragedy as a metaphor for political weakness. After offering condolences to the families of the deceased, he reportedly said, “When it comes to Tamil Nadu, not just the roof, but the government’s foundation is also rotten. This situation will change very soon.”
