Delhi police on Monday arrested a 54-year-old British man for allegedly sexually assaulting three visually impaired boys at a hostel in South Delhi, according to media reports.
The suspect, Murray Denis Ward, worked as a senior manager at a Gurgaon company until April this year and, being a regular donor, frequently visited the National Association for the Blind office, police said.
On Saturday, Ward allegedly took the boys to a room where he sexually assaulted them. He then left when a caretaker came in. The boys told the caretaker of their ordeal and he informed the institute’s senior staff.
Ishwar Singh, deputy commissioner of Delhi police, told AFP, “The arrested British national, Murray Ward, has been in India since last October. It appears he is a pedophile based on [the content of] his laptop, mobile and personal chat history.”
Ward, who is from Gloucestershire in the UK, has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act . He is in police custody for further investigation.
