A 55-year-old man of Filipino origin was arrested in Hong Kong’s Central district on Friday on suspicion of selling alcohol without a license.

At 7:30pm, police officers from the anti-triad unit disguised as customers raided an apartment on Li Yuen Street West in Central, Headline Daily reported.

They arrested the man, holder of a Hong Kong identity card, for allegedly selling alcohol without a license and using premises to sell  liquor without a license.

A total of 700 bottles of beer worth about HK$15,000 (US$1,920) were seized, Apple Daily reported.

The man was detained for further investigation.

The maximum penalties for such offenses could reach a fine of HK$1 million and two years in jail.
