At least one person was killed and two others were critically injured after part of a 50-year-old building collapsed in Kolkata’s Burrabazar area on Tuesday morning, according to media reports. More people are feared to be trapped under the debris.
Rescue operations were underway and the injured were taken to the Calcutta Medical College.

The Indian Express reported that Kolkata Municipal Corporation had officially asked the building’s residents to move out but they refused.
Thirty-four people were killed on August 31 when a 117-year-old residential building collapsed in Mumbai’s Bhendi Bazaar area.
