A 17-year-old boy was arrested early on Friday in Sai Wan Ho on Hong Kong Island for allegedly assaulting police and possessing drugs. At 1am, police officers intercepted a youth of Pakistani origin in front of the Youth Outreach Jockey Club Building at 2 Holy Cross Path, Oriental Daily reported.

The teenager struggled and struck a constable in his abdomen. He was then subdued by other officers.

Police say they found a small amount of suspected drugs on him and arrested him for allegedly assaulting a police officer and possessing drugs.

The injured officer was sent to the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for medical treatment, Sing Tao Daily reported.

Media reports did not say whether the arrested youth holds a Hong Kong identity card or temporary resident permit.
