The Karnataka state government transferred Bangalore City Police Commissioner Praveen Sood on Monday, barely seven months since he took the post.

According to a government notification, Sood was transferred to the post of additional director general of police (communications, logistics and modernization). T Sunned Kumar, a 1989-batch Indian Police Service officer, was appointed as the new commissioner, PTI reported.

Sood was apparently unperturbed by his transfer notice and is not expected to take legal action to prevent it. He was quoted as saying, “I did not ask why when I was appointed commissioner and I will not ask why when I am asked to leave.”

It was reported that Sood angered some Kannada activists and writers during recent protests against Hindi signboards at Metro stations.
