An assistant sub-inspector of police died in hospital after being shot by militants while on duty in south Kashmir’s Anantnag on Monday, ANI reported.

PTI reported that Abdul Rashid, who was hit in the abdomen, was rushed to Anantnag district hospital and then transferred to the Indian Army’s 92 base hospital in Badamibagh cantonment for specialized treatment but later died. 

“ASI Abdul Rashid attained martyrdom.A great soul and a dedicated police officer.Heartfelt condolences.RIP,” tweeted the deputy inspector general of police, south Kashmir range.

The attack on Rashid came a day after eight security personnel and three militants were killed during an attack in Pulwama.
