A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant was killed in a clash with security forces in Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police said on Monday.

The militant was identified as Umer, a member of the Abu Ismail group, which was responsible for the terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims in July.

On Sunday evening, the security forces carried out a search operation in the Samboora area, after receiving a tip about militants hiding there. Umer was killed when troops returned militant fire.

Police officers recovered one AK-47 rifle from the site.
