A Mumbai Ola cab driver was arrested after a female passenger complained that he had flashed her, according to police.
The 30-year-old woman came to the city from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad for an interview on Monday. She booked an Ola Share cab from Andheri to Parel, and when she got in the cab, she found there were a few other passengers sharing the ride. However, when the cab reached SK Bole Marg at Shivaji Park, she was alone in the cab with the driver. While she was talking on her phone, the driver reportedly stopped the cab, unzipped his pants and flashed her.
Following the complaint, the driver, Arun Tiwar, was tracked down and arrested.
“Shocked, the woman immediately got off the taxi and ran as far as she could. The woman then asked a passersby the address of the nearest police station and went to the Shivaji Park police station,” a police officer said.
The cab driver was booked under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code for outraging the modesty of the woman.
Very courageous and prompt action by tHe police.
