A 45-year-old businessman was attacked and robbed by a group of five people during a business meeting in a guest house in Yau Ma Tei in Kowloon on Sunday.

At 9:30pm, the businessman surnamed Lam went for an appointment in a guest house at Woo Sung House on 127 Woo Sung Street in Yau Ma Tei with some jade products and stamps worth about HK$120,000 (US$15,340), Sing Tao Daily reported.

When Lam arrived in a room, he was attacked by five people armed with cutters and glass bottles. Lam suffered injuries to his head and left leg.

The gang snatched his jade products, stamps, a Rolex watch worth HK$6,000, an iPhone 7 mobile handset and some cash. The group sought to get more money from him, taking Lam out to get cash from an ATM machine, Oriental Daily reported.

When they went downstairs, Lam saw some police – he cried for help, while the robbers fled. Lam was sent to hospital for treatment.

After investigating surveillance camera footage, police arrested three local men, aged 33 to 36, plus a 25-year-old man of Nepalese origin and a woman aged 38 in a room on the guest house’s fourth floor. They also found some of the stolen items.
