The Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday directed the Jodhpur collector to take disciplinary action against two doctors involved in a quarrel during an operation at Jodhpur’s Umaid Hospital, according to media reports.
In a video that has surfaced online, two doctors are seen fighting in an operating theater while performing emergency surgery on a pregnant woman. The woman’s newborn died, though it was not clear whether it could be blamed on the doctors’ behavior.
The argument erupted between Ashok Nainwal and ML Tak during an emergency cesarean. Dr Nainwal, an obstetrician, asked if the patient had eaten before the surgery, and the anaesthetist, Dr Tak, reportedly tried to get a junior doctor to carry out tests, a decision to which Dr Nainwal objected.

In the video, which is believed to have been secretly recorded by a staff member on a mobile phone, Dr Nainwal is seen shouting at the anesthetist, “You stay within your aukat [limits].” Both doctors are then seen shouting and calling each other names while a nurse and another doctor try to intervene.
Dr Nainwal and Dr Tak have been suspended.
