People who urgently need to find a toilet in Delhi will now be able to use their mobile phone to locate the nearest one.

The New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has launched a toilet locator awareness campaign, uploading 331 public toilet units to the Google Map application, according to media reports. Through the mobile app NDMC311, all toilets in the NDMC area can be located.

Praveen Prakash, Swachh Bharat, mission director and joint secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development, was quoted as saying, “By this campaign we have to undertake an exercise of locating the community and public toilets which include municipal toilets along with the toilets located in petrol pumps, malls, railway stations, bus stands and at other public places in Delhi and NCR.”

The campaign, which began on July 12 and will end on August 11, aims to make the capital city cleaner by reducing public urination. A prize will be awarded for the cleanest toilet in the city.
