Commerce department figures released on Friday show the downward trend in US retail continued for a second-straight month through June, despite expectation sales would see growth.
Retail sales fell by 0.2%, driven by weakness at service stations, clothing stores and supermarkets, reports Reuters.
The data missed expectations of a 0.1% rise from economists surveyed by the Wall Street Journal.
