A 23-year-old Hong Kong man plunged to his death on Wednesday morning in Wong Tai Sin three days after breaking up with his girlfriend. The victim surnamed Ho, who lived on the fifth floor of Wing Yuen House of Chuk Yuen South Estate, jumped from the 23rd floor of the stairway of the residential building, Oriental Daily reported.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Police found Ho’s suicide note, and preliminary investigation suggested that the man committed suicide after being deeply affected by his girlfriend’s decision to end their five-year relationship, Apple Daily reported.
Ho was to graduate from the department of computing of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University this year. The university said it would offer any necessary assistance to Ho’s family and arrange counseling for his classmates.
