After a 36-year-old Mumbai motorcyclist was run over by a truck while trying to avoid a pothole on the Jawhar-Dahanu highway in the state’s Palghar district on Sunday, Shiv Sena officials said they were working on improving road maintenance.

Bandra resident Jagruti Viraj Hogale was on a female-only biker club road trip to Jawhar when the tragedy occurred at around 9 am while she was trying to overtake a truck near Vaiti village. It was raining heavily and Jagruti could not see the pothole in time to avoid it. She is survived by her husband Viraj and nine-year-old son Harshit.

ANI reported that Aditya Thackeray, the Shiv Sena youth wing Yuva Sena leader, said, “There is action and we are working on it.”
