A 26-year-old married man and expectant father was jailed for four weeks by a State Court after pleading guilty to insulting the modesty of a 16-year-old female student by filming her undressing in a toilet last year.

In the early evening of March 22, 2016, the Nanyang Junior College student had completed a rugby training session and entered a toilet near the running track to get changed, Shin Min Daily News reported.

The victim shouted out with shock as a mobile phone appeared above the door of the cubicle where she was changing her top.

Closed-circuit television footage of the school compound showed a man who was later identified as Wee Wei Jie, an engineer for the Republic of Singapore Air Force, entering the women’s toilet and leaving in a hurry that evening.

Wee told the police that he had been in the mood for doing something “exciting”, prompting him to film the girl in the toilet, The Strait Times reported.

His defense lawyer told the court that Wee had been suspended from his duties with the air force because of the offense, suggesting that he had learned his lesson.

Wee was handed a four-week jail sentence. As a criminal-trespass charge was considered during sentencing, he could have been jailed for up to one year and/or fined for insulting the modesty of a woman.
