Majority-holding Senate Republican leaders are selling a new stripped-down healthcare bill to repeal certain aspects of the Obama administration’s Affordable Care Act, the Hill reports.
The move comes as the White House has redoubled efforts to get healthcare legislation passed, which they had hoped would include tax cuts as part of broader stimulus measures.
The “skinny” bill would repeal the individual mandate, while leaving subsidies and Medicaid expansion in place.
Before the Senate can vote on such a bill, however, first they need to gather enough votes just to start the debate, and it is still unclear there is enough support.
