Police are hunting a 40-year-old Hong Kong man alleged to have attacked a local resident of Ukrainian descent with a knife while drunk in Yau Tong in Kowloon on Wednesday.
At 2am, the Ukrainian man surnamed Ko, who has a Hong Kong Identity Card, was chatting with friends after parking his seven-seat vehicle in Yau Lai Estate in Kowloon, Oriental Daily reported.
Suddenly, a local man in blue shirt, brown pants and wearing slippers approached him and asked to join their conservation. Noticing that the local man was drunk, Ko pushed him away.
Ko later kicked the man due to his continuous drunken disruptions, HK01.com reported.
A few minutes later, the drunk man returned with a 25-centimeter-long kitchen knife and tried to stab Ko, who ran to a carpark and got security guards to call the police.
The drunk man fled towards Yau Tong MTR station before police officers arrived. No one was injured.
Police searched around the area, but only found a knife on the road – not the suspect. They are hunting the attacker.
Ko, who was born in Hong Kong and speaks fluent Cantonese, told the police that he would recognize the suspect, as he had seen him several times before in the housing estate.
