A phone call from an unidentified person triggered a bomb scare at Mumbai’s Churchgate local train station on Thursday, but it turned out to be a hoax, according to media reports.

An official was quoted as saying, “A phone call was received on the RPF control room at 10.44 am regarding a bomb being planted at Churchgate station. Government Railway Police and the Railway Protection Force conducted checks inside trains and on station areas. The canine squad was also roped in. The Anti-terrorism Squad of Mumbai Police was alerted.”

Incidentally, Thursday marks the sixth anniversary of the Zaveri Bazar-Opera House-Dadar triple blasts that killed 26 people and injured over 100 others.

Police are trying to locate the caller.
