Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf told Japan’s Mainichi Shimbun in an exclusive interview that he contemplated using nuclear weapons against India amid tensions between the two countries following the 2001 terrorist attack on the Indian Parliament.
Musharraf told the Mainichi that when tensions were high in 2002, there was a “danger when (the) nuclear threshold could have been crossed.” He also recalled that he had many sleepless nights, asking himself whether he would or could deploy nuclear weapons. At the time, he had publicly said that he would not rule out the possibility of using nuclear weapons, and his testimony points to the fact that it had indeed been a realistic option, not just a diplomatic feint, the Mainichi story said.
General Mush is an idiot for his thinking on using Nukes against India. Yes, terrible damage on Indian cities would have results. But then, India is not a postage stamp country , but a subcontinent . I doubt it would have succumbed. Using Nukes is not like hand grenades!
But then, India has its own Nukes and second strike capablity and well dispersed nukes and missiles. The result of even reduced retaliatory strike would have reduced Pakistan into an ash tray of dust. What a delusion of the General now wanted by the police in Pakistan.!
