The Pakistani army violated its ceasefire with India four times on Tuesday, according to media reports.

Civilian areas and Indian army positions along the Line of Control (LOC) were hit by mortar fire in four sectors in Rajouri and Poonch districts, forcing the Indian army to retaliate, officials said.

Around 50 students at a government high school were trapped by the shelling in Rajouri district’s Naushera sector, and 12 primary school pupils in Kadali in Nausherahad had to be rescued by police.

One soldier was injured in the heavy exchanges of fire.

“The Pakistan army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing from small arms, automatic weapons and mortars from 13.50 hours in the Naushera sector of Rajouri district along the LoC,” a defense spokesman said, adding that the Indian Army was retaliating strongly.
