A 23-year-old Hong Kong man was arrested after a crashing his friend’s Ferrari in Yuen Long in the New Territories West on Monday. At 3am, the man surnamed Ho, whose driver’s license had been suspended, was seen driving a white Ferrari 458 Italia along Town Park Road South in Yuen Long before the car slammed into a traffic light near Lam Hau Tsuen Road, Apple Daily reported.
The driver was unhurt but the vehicle was severely damaged on its right side and the front wheel was detached.
Police say they tested Ho’s breath and found his alcohol level above the legal limit.
Police also found that the vehicle belonged to Ho’s friend, now 33, who had bought it second-hand for HK$2 million (US$256,000) a year ago. Ho took the car without the man’s permission, police say.
Police arrested Ho and charged him with drink-driving, driving with a suspended license, driving without third-party insurance, and taking a conveyance without authority. He was detained pending further investigation.
