A chilling video that has gone viral shows a municipal council worker kicking his female Muslim colleague in Karnataka’s Raichur district.

The incident, which happened last week, was captured by a surveillance camera and shared by the ANI news agency on Tuesday. Nasreen, who works at Sindhanur City Municipal Council (SCMC), was late for work because she was observing the Ramzan (Ramadan) fast, which sparked an argument between her and Sharanappa, culminating in him kicking her.

A senior police official was quoted as saying, “Saturday was a holiday for the SCMC office but two employees were assigned to work so they could clear some backlog. Nasreen is a permanent employee while Sharanappa is hired on a contract basis as a computer operator.”

Police have arrested Sharanappa and registered a case.
