Two mainland Chinese men were forced to transfer 6.71 million yuan (US$860,363) to a bank account in China by six men at a hostel in Mong Kok in Hong Kong’s Kowloon district on Monday, police have revealed.

Apple Daily reported that the two men, surnamed Chen, 26, and Ma, 20, had arrived in Hong Kong on two-way permits from China. At 2pm, they went to a hostel on Sai Yee Street where they had arranged to have a business talk with two Hong Kong men.

A Chinese man and three South Asian men suddenly entered the room and, threatening the two mainlanders with knives, ordered them to make the transfer.

The six men fled without hurting the two mainlanders, who then called the police.

Apple Daily reports that on Monday evening, officers arrested a Hong Kong man surnamed Hui, 40, in Hung Hom, and another local man with the same surname, who is 39, in Mong Kok. Police are hunting for the remaining suspects.
