A 19-year-old woman has become an internet star after miraculously surviving being run over by a train when she was walking along the tracks at Mumbai’s Kurla station.
Oblivious to what was going on around her because she was talking on her phone and wearing earphones, Pratiksha Natekar did not realize a train was barreling toward her from behind until alarmed passengers began shouting at her. But she could not get out of the way in time and the train struck her down and passed over her.

Fortunately, the driver of the goods train hit the brakes and she suffered only minor injuries to her lips, eyes and head. She was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital and was later discharged.
The May 13 incident was captured by a CCTV camera and it has since gone viral.
Pratiksha was quoted as saying, “I was crossing the tracks when I suddenly saw the train coming. I was stunned and I did not know what to do. I don’t know what happened. When I woke up I was in hospital.”
Ashok Bhorade from Kurla Government Railway Police was quoted as saying: “As she was busy over the phone, she didn’t hear a goods train thundering down the tracks. When she suddenly looked up, the train had already reached her. She panicked and ran first towards the platform and then straight into the train.”
