Hindu Makkal Katchi (Hindu People’s Party) founder and state president Arjun Sampath announced that movie star Rajinikanth may soon be entering politics to free the state from the clutches of Dravidian rule, according to media reports.
ANI quoted him as saying, “[Rajinikanth’s] response was good; he says he wants to do something for Tamil Nadu and the country. He will consider joining politics.”
On Monday, Rajinikanth met Hindu Makkal Katchi leaders at his Poes Garden residence in Chennai. The Times of India reported that during an hour-long conversation, Sampath urged the actor to enter politics in the near future.
They discussed spiritual matters as well. Sampath was quoted as saying, “Apart from politics, we also talked about Tamil saints like Nayanars and Alvars. We spoke about Swami Sachchidanand Saraswati and Dayanand Saraswati. Rajinikanth is an ardent disciple of Dayanand.”
