A 45-year-old Thai woman and two men from the Philippines were arrested at a Macau hotel last Friday on suspicion of drug-related offenses.

At 5pm on June 23, police officers arrested the Thai woman, who held a Hong Kong ID card, at a hostel in Praca de Ponte e Horta, Macao Daily News reported, citing a police media briefing on Monday. Officers found drug paraphernalia during the operation but no illegal drugs.

The police investigation revealed that the woman had received a jail term of one year and seven months for a drug-taking offense in 2015 but had left Macau before serving the sentence. The woman later changed her name in Thailand and applied for a new passport to re-enter Macau, according to Hou Kong Daily.

She was sent to prison immediately after the arrest and will face two new charges – one count of improper possession of instruments for drug use and one count of false declaration.

Officers arrested two Filipino men at the same hostel and confiscated their drugs and paraphernalia. The two will face charges of improper possession of instruments for drug use and illicit consumption of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
