People are losing their cool across India, thanks to the heatwave and frequent power cuts. But police say a frustrated ex-judge became particularly hot under the collar when his electricity cut out, alleging that he angrily picked up a gun and opened fire on Haryana electricity board workers when they were repairing the transmission line in front of his house.
Although no one was injured in the incident, a police First Information Report (FIR) was lodged and the former judge has been booked for attempted murder.
PTI quoted ACP (Crime) Manish Sehgal as saying, “The accused, AK Raghav, opened fire on a group of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd (DHBVN) technicians and linemen. He fired a few shots in the air and four towards the workers. The bullets hit a tractor-trolley and its tires.”
Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) superintending engineer Naveen Sharma was quoted as saying, “The act is unacceptable from a person who has served such a critical post in the judiciary. A written complaint was given to the Civil Lines Police immediately after the incident.”
