Police are hunting for a 27-year-old weaver after his wife and mother-in-law were found murdered in Doddaballapura Town on the outskirts of Bangalore.

The deceased, who lived in Therina Beedi in Yelethatte, have been identified as Meenakshamma, 43, and her daughter Chandrakala, 24.

According to police, Chandrakala was in love with Chandrashekhar, the suspect, and they had reportedly eloped and got married in Dharamasthala four months ago.

Since Chandrashekhar’s family was against the marriage, the couple lived separately near Chandrakala’s parents’ home.

On Saturday, the mother and daughter were found dead. A preliminary investigation indicated that they had been strangled.

“It [has been] learned that the suspect, Chandrashekhar, is  HIV positive and the couple had frequent fights over the issue,” a police official was quoted as saying.

“Chandrshekhar [absconded] after the incident. Meanwhile, Narayanappa has alleged that his son-in-law was harassing his daughter to bring a dowry.”
