North Korea fired what appeared to be a short-range Scud missile on Monday that and landed in the sea off its east coast, South Korea’s military said.
The launch is the latest in a series of missile tests in violation of United Nations resolutions aimed at stopping the North’s development of a nuclear weapon.
Japan has protested against the test of the missile, which appears to have landed in Japan’s exclusive economic zone in the Sea of Japan, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said on Monday.
US President Donald Trump has been briefed, a White House official said on Sunday. “The United States government is aware,” the White House official said. “The president has been briefed.”
The South Korean military said the missile flew 450km (280 miles) before landing in the sea.

Nuke both N Korea and China
Jump off a high rise and do the world a favour!
Wait a minute, isn’t 200 NM EEZ suppose to be "international waters" according to recent US run in with Chinese fighters? Guess its only international waters when US and its allies are conducting their military activities against other states but when it comes to themselves it will be "US waters" "Japanese waters".
Nice media reporting eh? Are we going to hear next time "US spy plane intercepted over Chinese waters"?
I smell bots.
USA invaded Korea in 1951, massacred millions of Koreans and is still occupying part of Korea with 30,000 soldiers.
Unless the USA removes all its soldiers from Korea, the probability that Korean nuclear-tipped missiles willl hit Washington, New York and Boston will grow.
As for the United Nations, it is better that it takes into account who are the invaders and murderers instead of blindly sanctions the Koreans who are defending themselves and their country against the American invaders and murderers.
Wait. Wait for US presidents’ midnight tweet about his response to Kimmi.s behaviour!
