Delhi police arrested a 53-year-old woman who allegedly conned unemployed youths out of cash with promises of government jobs.

A woman named Sunita registered a police complaint against the suspect, a fellow Nanakpura resident named Anita Panikar, alleging that she introduced herself as a legal adviser and then cheated her by promising to get her son a government job.

According to the complaint, Anita demanded Rs3 lakh (US$4,700) and received Rs75,000 for securing the job, but then went missing. Sunita then went to the police and filed a complaint.

The police said Sunita’s mobile phone records revealed that she was hiding somewhere in the Green Park area and was in constant touch with a man named Arjun. He was traced and interrogated. Arjun revealed the location of her hideout and the police laid a trap to nab her.
