President Trump said that the US dollar “is getting too strong,” in an interview with the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, adding that he would like the Federal Reserve to keep interest rates low.

Trump also backtracked from earlier comments that he would not nominate Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen to another term. “I do like a low-interest rate policy, I must be honest with you,” the president explained in reference to Yellen’s dovish tendencies.

The president also conceded that China has not been devaluing its currency in recent months, and that the US needs to work with Beijing to address rising tensions on the Korean peninsula.
