Huawei was awarded US$11 million in a patent violation case on Thursday, as rival Samsung was found to have violated patents with their flagship Galaxy devices.
Samsung will take next steps after reviewing the decision, according to the company’s spokesperson.
Intellectual Property cases in China have in the past been met with speculation that they are politicized or used for protectionist purposes. This decision comes as China has been retaliating against Korean companies for the deployment of the THAAD missile defense system in South Korea.
