A 29-year-old Filipino maid received HK$210,000 (US$27,013) in compensation from her former Hong Kong male employer who was convicted of indecently assaulting her in an apartment in Mong Kok in Kowloon.

Shek Kwok-ngan (44) was convicted of indecent assault and jailed for five weeks on March 24 this year, Apple Daily reported Friday.

In early 2014, the maid said she was in fear of being raped when she caught Shek masturbating behind her. She used a camera on her mobile phone to film him doing the same on March 3, 2014.

The video was submitted to court as evidence in Shek’s conviction. The woman then filed a civil lawsuit for damages against the man and his wife for violating the Sex Discrimination Ordinance, Oriental Daily reported.

On Thursday, Judge Wong King-wah criticized the couple for refusing to compensate the woman until Shek was convicted. Shek’s wife was ordered by the court to apologize to the maid in a written statement.
