A 29-year-old Filipino maid received HK$210,000 (US$27,013) in compensation from her former Hong Kong male employer who was convicted of indecently assaulting her in an apartment in Mong Kok in Kowloon.
Shek Kwok-ngan (44) was convicted of indecent assault and jailed for five weeks on March 24 this year, Apple Daily reported Friday.
In early 2014, the maid said she was in fear of being raped when she caught Shek masturbating behind her. She used a camera on her mobile phone to film him doing the same on March 3, 2014.
The video was submitted to court as evidence in Shek’s conviction. The woman then filed a civil lawsuit for damages against the man and his wife for violating the Sex Discrimination Ordinance, Oriental Daily reported.
On Thursday, Judge Wong King-wah criticized the couple for refusing to compensate the woman until Shek was convicted. Shek’s wife was ordered by the court to apologize to the maid in a written statement.

Thats good he was convicted now.. And the maid deserves justice being assaulted .. The law here. Is good … Very fair .
How about those employers who dont follow the law about off day hours
Good job. Luckily ur a smart helper. If u dnt have any evidence maybe ur boss will tell the court u steal something from them to make a case against u.
Justice served! This must be a lesson for all dh here in hongkong we are very much ware of how employers treat us not all but mostly treat us out of dignity! I am one lucky dh here for 16years who found a good at heart employer! Let us all fight for our right….
Justice Served!!God is good!!
The Labour law here in Hong Kong is very commendable. Fair justice is applied to everyone regardless of their races and tongues.
I hope how these couple have fared after violating the rights of their maid will provide a vital lesson to all employers both Chinese and expats. Filipinas are not only effective in housekeeping and taking care of children but they’re also good at heart. Treat them (us) good and we will treat you best. That’s the principle, the key to an efficient service by migrant filipino workers.
GOOD JOB KABAYAN.FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT .MAGING LESSON BOTH SA MGA KAPWA OFW NA PINAG ISIPAN KUNG ANO ANG DAPAT AT SA MGA EMPLOYER NA DI MAG IISIP.CONGRATZ KABAYAN.
Good to hear that….hope…victims will have courage to complain /report…..the wrong doing of their employer….
Your smart…..keep it up..
..
That’s good served him right
Good, the maid is very smart was able to video the action of her boss..
Mautak tau mga pinay e kaya nag mali employer nya..
ang sb dto ay recieved….
there’s so many plot holes in this article. never once did it mention him actually touching her directly. so basically she got 200k for just one guy fapping in close proximity of her? if it was a local girl this matter would just get shoved aside. if i got 200k for every time a guy "accidentally" touching me indecently on public transport, I’d be in a few millions by now.
That is the one i really like here in hongkong…The LAW IS FAIR..NO RICH NO POOR…EQUAL…..EVENTUALLY STILL SOME EMPLOYERS HERE DOESNT FOLLOW THERE DAY OFF,,AND ESPECIALLY THERE FOOD ALLOWANCE.
Like it.supposedly employers must not please or command they know its holiday its hard to say no if stay in helpers
Sound good that she have a justice. Not only in Hongkong and also to the other country they think all Filipino people was Slavery
