A 41-year-old Filipino domestic worker was arrested on Monday and charged with stealing her employer’s clothes worth a total of about HK$30,000 (US$3,860) from a villa in Repulse Bay on Hong Kong Island.
The maid was carrying a large bag at 6 a.m. when she left the house on 89 Repulse Bay Road where she was working. She was stopped by a security guard who called the employer, Apple Daily reported.
The security guard called the police after about 50 items of the employer’s clothing were found in the maid’s bag. The maid reportedly told the police that she was going to sell the clothes. She was arrested by the police for suspected theft.
The villa was purchased by the owner for HK$115 million in 2001 and is now worth HK$2 billion, while the monthly rent is about HK$1 million, Sing Tao Daily reported.
