The French presidential election is getting closer, as far-right Marine Le Pen made up ground in the polls this week.

L’Express reports that front-runner Emanuel Macron dropped from 65% after last Sunday’s vote to below 59% in an Opinionway-Orpi poll. Outsider candidate Le Pen passed the 40% mark, after sitting at 35% to start the week.

Macron’s drop in the polls came amid an embarrassing campaign slip up, which saw Macron booed by workers at a Whirlpool factory in his hometown of Amiens, following a warm reception by the locals for Le Pen.
