Two Indonesian domestic helpers and three tourists from mainland China sustained minor injuries in a coach collision at Shek Mun Kap on Hong Kong’s Lantau Island on Sunday morning.

At 9.55am, the New Lantao Bus 3M was traveling toward Tung Chung town center down a steep section of road when it crashed into the approaching Bus 23 operated by the same company, which was traveling toward South Lantau in the opposite lane, Sing Pao Daily reported Monday.

Five passengers sitting by the windows were injured. One man and two women aged 64 and 76 who are from mainland China, and the 33-year-old Indonesian woman who is a domestic helper in the city, sustained minor cuts and abrasions to their limbs from the broken window glass, while the 22-year-old Indonesian helper’s hand was injured.

All were sent to North Lantau Hospital for treatment, Sing Tao Daily reported.

A preliminary police investigation showed that the vehicle traveling toward Tung Chung had slightly crossed the center lane of the narrow road, resulting in the collision, according to Apple Daily.

Both bus drivers passed alcohol breath tests, according to police.
