A 65-year-old Filipino maid, who had served a Hong Kong family for 24 years, was surprised see her name in the Sky Post newspaper on Wednesday, in which her employer heaped praise on her.
The Sky Post, a Chinese free newspaper in Hong Kong, published the article after an interview with Estella’s employer, Jacqueline, on its parenting page.
Estella started working for Jacqueline’s mother-in-law in 1993 and looked after her until her death five years ago. Jacqueline then employed Estella to take care of her four children, aged between four and 14.
Jacqueline told the Sky Post she understood that Estella might have limitations in physical fitness at her age, but she had never thought of dismissing her. She said Estella was responsible and honest, and remained careful about things at home.
Jacqueline also taught her children to take care of themselves, instead of always asking Estella for help. She said her children had learnt to respect the elderly since living with Estella.
She said employers should trust their maids and support their work.

God bless you Madam i wish more employer is very understanding and good like you..
Congrats sis Amazing employer….
Good bless you …
My Mom also work here for 33 years in her employer… And Im so blessed and happy to have her EMPLOYER AS WELL..THEY ARE TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!
Bless the Filipino Foreign Workers, so many sacrifices they’re gone through, and heartfelt gratitude for employers who are kind hearted and appreciate the hardwork of their domestic helpers.
Congratulations to all of us working here in hk
Great to see employers appreciating their helpers. Without helpers many HK people would find it extremely difficult managing a house, children and work. Let alone a marriage. Most I see could not cope. My husband and I know what life is like with no helper, looking after 3 children and both working full time (1 shift work) and sharing the household chores. Little or no real family time. Since moving here and getting a helper after 4th child its been heaven. (I think our helper was sent from there). We’ve taken her on our holidays. When we holiday in the philippines we take her family also. I am glad she has been able to put up with us the past 10 years. We are so grateful.
Congratulation Kabayan I too worked at hongkong 12 years ago so thankful for the Schaus family their such a good employer. Godbless us more!!
She is also blessed to have an employer who knows to appreciate her helper..only few Chinese employers are like that .
