A 40-year-old domestic worker prevented a possible burglary at a villa in Sai Kung in New Territories East in the early hours of Sunday morning.

At 1:30am, the worker heard noises coming from the outside area of the house where she worked at Las Pinadas on Clearwater Bay Road, Sing Tao Daily reported. When she looked down from the upper floor, she saw two men trying to open the gate of the house.

The maid immediately called her employer, surnamed Lau, who called police. The two men absconded. No loss of property or damaged was reported.

Police did not disclose more information about the domestic worker.

At about 11am, two mainland Chinese men, 25 and 27, who came from Guizhou, were arrested by police on suspicion of attempted burglary on the property at 397 Clearwater Bay Road, Oriental Daily reported. The police found gloves and bolt cutters in one of the men’s possessions.

Police are investigating whether the suspects are involved in several other reported burglary cases in the district.
