A 16-year-old South Asian youth and a 27-year-old Hong Kong man were arrested for robbing a woman in Tin Shui Wai in New Territories West on Wednesday morning.
The two men surprised the 25-year-old woman at 1am, as she was walking home on Wetland Park Road. One of the suspects held her in a stranglehold by grabbing her from behind, while the other took her iPhone worth HK$6,000 (US$773) and HK$100 in cash, Sing Pao reported. Passers-by helped the woman call the police.
With the woman’s description of the two men, the police intercepted and arrested a teenager and a local loitering near Yuet Kwai House in Tin Yuet Estate after a search of the district. The Yuen Long District crime unit is investigating whether the suspects are connected to any similar robbery cases, Oriental Daily reported.
The arrested South Asian has a Hong Kong identity card and has been living with his family, according to a police source.
