The body of a Nigerian worker who missing after falling from a temporary work platform at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge construction site was recovered on Thursday evening.
Members of the Government Flying Service, whose air fleet is frequently used for rescue operations in Hong Kong, the marine police and Marine Department spent 27 hours to locate and retrieved the worker’s body, which was found at a depth of 10 meters in the sea, Sing Tao Daily reported. His body was finally brought to the surface around 6pm, it said.
The 41-year-old worker named OnWuka fell into the sea when the temporary work platform suddenly collapsed as it was being dismantled on Wednesday afternoon.
OnWuka is a Hong Kong identity card holder, married to a local woman and they have a nine-year-old daughter. The family has reached an undisclosed compensation agreement with the construction company, without disclosing the exact amount, Apple Daily reported.
