Hindus in India and Nepal celebrated the Holi festival on Monday, marking the advent of spring and celebrated as a thanksgiving for a good harvest.
Armed with gulal (colored powder), water guns and balloons. They chased each other around streets, parks … anywhere where they could plaster a strangers and friends alike with the trademark paste of vibrant colors and water. Even those not celebrating the festival were given a color coating. No one complained as everyone was familiar with the saying bura na mano, Holi hai — Don’t be offended, it’s Holi!
